Distillation and production
Distillation and production
Production method
Discontinuous‑cycle distillation (discontinuous alembic) from pomace; filtration to clarify the distillate (for Cristallo references).
Distillation
Distillation in discontinuous alembic (discontinuous cycle / pot still).
Ageing
The Cristallo version is indicated as unaged. There are aged and barrel‑matured references (e.g. 12–18 months) for the wood‑finished versions.
Producer history Libarna
According to commercial and historical sources, the Libarna brand originates from the experience of Distilleria Gambarotta, active in Serravalle Scrivia with documented roots in the 19th century. Over time the brand has been associated with various production and distribution realities in the Italian distillates sector; today Libarna is present on the market with both unaged (Cristallo/white) references and aged or barrel‑matured grappe.
Production philosophy
To valorize the Piedmontese grappa tradition by offering simple, immediate references (Cristallo/white) alongside more complex, aged expressions that reflect the territorial origin of the pomace used.
Territory
Piedmont: local reference to Serravalle Scrivia and, for some specific cuvées, to wine areas such as the Langhe (e.g. grappa di Barolo).
