Production method
Large-scale production of grain whisky using continuous column stills (Coffey/column stills) and a multi-pressure system for cereal distillation. Hendrick's Gin is produced in the Hendrick's Gin Palace on the same site in small batches using specially reconstructed/historic pot stills dedicated to gin.
Distillation
For the grain whisky: continuous column stills (Coffey / multi-pressure column stills). For Hendrick's Gin: dual technique with a Bennett pot still (maceration of botanicals) and a Carter-Head still (steam infusion via an aroma basket); the two distillates are then blended.

Girvan distillery was built in 1963 by William Grant & Sons as a high-volume facility for the production of grain whisky, completed quickly to ensure a steady supply for the company's blends. Over the years the site has primarily produced spirits destined for blends but has also been the location for selected official single grain bottlings. Since 1999 the Hendrick's Gin Palace has operated on site, where Hendrick's Gin is distilled.
