The Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore - Campo Bastiglia DOC, produced by the renowned winery Cà Rugate, represents a magnificent expression of the Veneto wine-growing region. This wine enhances the traditional "Ripasso" technique which endows Valpolicella with a body and complexity superior to its classic version.

The Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore from Cà Rugate is crafted from a skillful blend of Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone grapes. Once harvested and vinified, these grapes undergo a second fermentation on the pomace of Amarone. This process not only increases the alcohol content but also enriches the wine with new aromas and flavors.

After fermentation, the wine is aged in barriques for about 18 months followed by further refinement in the bottle. The result is a deep ruby-red wine with violet highlights. On the nose, it displays notes of ripe fruit such as cherries and plums, enhanced by nuances of sweet spices and vanilla, thanks to the aging in wood. On the palate, it is full-bodied, warm, and enveloping, with an excellent balance between the freshness of the fruity notes and the well-integrated tannic structure.

Ideal dishes to pair with this Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore include grilled red meats, game, and aged cheeses. It is also an excellent companion for evening conversations by the fireplace.

Stored in a proper environment, this wine has an aging potential of over 10 years, allowing it to evolve and gain even more complexity and nuances.

Winery history
The Tessari family has been cultivating vineyards in the area for over a century; the Ca' Rugate label first appeared on bottles in 1986. In 2001 Michele Tessari, the fourth generation of the family, launched a project to reorganize the estate and expand the vineyards, and the new winery in Montecchia di Crosara was inaugurated in 2002. Over the years the estate has developed wine‑tourism activities and created a wine museum to tell the family's agricultural history.
Production philosophy
Quality that begins in the vineyard is a priority: sustainable management and low-impact practices to enhance native varieties and the expression of the terroir. Since 2004 the estate has adopted more sustainable agronomic methods and demonstrates a commitment to traceability and preserving the local character. Since 2013 it has been part of Indipendenti del Soave.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are situated on the hills of Val d'Alpone and on land well suited to Soave Classico, Valpolicella and Lessini Durello. The soils have a volcanic and calcareous‑basaltic composition typical of the Soave area; some parcels lie on ridges and terraces with steep slopes and average elevations of around 400–450 meters above sea level.
Awards and recognitions
Numerous national and international awards, including several 'Tre Bicchieri' from the Gambero Rosso guide for the winery's wines, and medals/recognitions at international competitions also dedicated to mountain and heroic wines.
