Winery history
The Burlotto family has been tied to Verduno for generations: the family's wine production dates back to the early 20th century with Andrea Burlotto. Over time his children carried on the work in the vineyard and cellar; in more recent years Gian Carlo Burlotto has relaunched the estate, joined by his son Gianluca and, since 2022, by his daughter Claudia. The name Cascina Massara refers to the cru from which some of the estate's historic wines originate.
Production philosophy
An approach centered on the connection to the land: manual care of the vineyards, attention to grape quality, and respect for the characteristics of the cru. The aim is to convey in the bottle the expression of Verduno's soil and microclimate.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards located on the hills of Verduno, with the 'Massara' cru considered one of the most prestigious sites in the Barolo district; clay-limestone soils that influence the wines' structure and aromas.
