The Barbera d'Asti Superiore DOCG "Genio" by Gianni Doglia represents one of the highest expressions of quality and territoriality of Piedmontese wine. This prized red is made from carefully selected Barbera grapes, sourced from vineyards located in the best areas of the Asti region. The vines enjoy an ideal terroir, benefiting from a favorable climate and soils particularly suited to the cultivation of this variety.
The winemaking is conducted with traditional methods, followed by aging in wood barrels which adds a touch of complexity to the wine, enriching it with unique aromatic nuances. The color of "Genio" is an intense and deep red. On the nose, it is distinguished by its vigorous notes of wild berries, such as blackberries and raspberries, perfectly integrated with delicate hints of spices and a light vein of vanilla and chocolate, due to the aging in wood.
On the palate, the wine is structured and robust, with a vibrant acidity typical of Barbera that expertly balances its fruity generosity. The tannins are soft and well-integrated, leading to a long and pleasantly persistent finish that picks up the olfactory sensations adding a delicate mineral note.
Serving this wine at a temperature of about 16-18°C can enhance its qualities. It is ideal when paired with flavorful dishes such as red meats, game dishes, and aged cheeses. "Genio" by Gianni Doglia is undoubtedly a sophisticated choice for lovers of robust and complex wines and represents a magnificent example of how Barbera d'Asti can be elevated to levels of excellence. A true enological gem not to be missed to enrich one's cellar and special occasions.
