Winery history Balìa di Zola

The estate is located in a farmhouse with historic roots, and the family led by Veruska Eluci and Claudio Fiore launched the modern Balìa di Zola project in the early 2000s. The winery was officially established as a family venture in 2004, with restoration of the farmhouse and replanting of the vineyards to enhance Sangiovese di Romagna.

Production philosophy

Artisanal work and attention to the vineyard: the winery prioritizes hands-on care of the grape bunches, harvesting into crates, respect for the terroir, and sustainability-focused practices. In the cellar, simple methods are applied, and since 2008 native yeasts have also been used for fermentations.

Terroir and vineyards

Situated in the municipality of Modigliana in the Romagna Apennines, the vineyards are laid out in an amphitheatre at approximately 300 m above sea level, surrounded by calanchi, woods and olive groves. The soils are described as marly and sandy, with a balanced texture that influences the character of the wines.
