Winery history Domaine Denis Race

Family-run for four generations, the domaine reports vineyards ranging in age from 2 to 65 years. In recent years two of the family's daughters have taken an active role in the domaine's activities, with Claire responsible for winemaking and vineyard work and Marine also involved in administrative duties.

Production philosophy

Work focused on vineyard care and control of the winemaking process: mechanical harvesting since 1985, pneumatic pressing, use of temperature‑controlled stainless steel tanks, monitoring of fermentations and an ageing period of approximately 9–10 months before bottling. Attention to vine health and temperature control is emphasized as a priority.

Terroir and vineyards

The domaine is located in the Chablis appellation, in the northernmost part of Burgundy. Its vineyards lie on clay-limestone soils with Kimmeridgian subsoils. The domaine cultivates parcels across Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis 1er Cru and Chablis Grand Cru.
