From the Mombirone cru, one of the hills surrounding the town of Canale. The family winemaking tradition was born, since in the distant 1918 the great-grandmother Tilde bought the first small plot, already then vines in Barbera, where the excellent results of the vine on the clayey-limestone soils of this hill had long been recognized. It is here that, after more than a century, our best Barbera grapes are born from which we obtain Barbera d'Alba MonBirone, a powerful wine, of great elegance and structure, thanks also to the age of the vines which have now reached 40 years .

The grape harvest normally takes place in the first and second ten days of October, after the pressing begins the alcoholic fermentation, performed in the traditional way and with a duration of 15/20 days. After racking, the wine is placed in 228-liter wooden barrels where the malolactic fermentation and refinement will take place, which can last between 15 and 20 months. After bottling, the wine rests for about 6 months in the underground cellars and then is put on the market about two years after the harvest.

An intense ruby red glass with purple hues. Intense aromas of undergrowth, cocoa, spices and red fruits and plums are a sensational triumph for the nose. On the palate, the entrance immediately shows great power and a complex structure. The finish is long and fresh and offers good harmony between fruity and woody sensations.

Its important alcohol content and good acidity make it suitable for pairing with meats prepared with long cooking and medium-aged cheeses; a superb red that will give quality and sensory journeys to your palates.

Winery history
The Monchiero-Carbone family states a winemaking tradition dating back to the early 20th century and, on its official website, traces family roots to 1918; over time family members reunited and expanded the vineyards around Canale to develop the company's modern production. Third-party sources indicate that the winery’s structure was consolidated from the late 1980s/early 1990s, when the vineyards of two families were brought together to begin the joint enterprise.
Production philosophy
The estate focuses on the native grape varieties of the area and on an approach that showcases the terroir of the Roero and Langhe hills, experimenting with aging techniques to enhance the longevity of certain whites and reds. In recent years it has developed aged interpretations of Arneis.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is located in Canale, in the heart of the Roero. The vineyards mentioned by the winery are situated on hills with sandy soils and marl that enhance the expressiveness of Arneis; among the crus cited are Renesio Incisa and the cru Mombirone for Barbera.
Awards and recognitions
