Barolo DOCG 1961 - Ciabot Mentin - Domenico Clerico is a rare piece of Piedmontese winemaking history, born from ancient vines in the heart of the Langhe. Made from Nebbiolo grapes, this cru expresses the most authentic essence of the Alta Langa territory, where the calcareous-clay soils provide structure and longevity. The aging, strictly in oak barrels, has given the wine a complex elegance and a deep harmony, bringing out aromas of withered rose, ripe cherry, tobacco, and sweet spices, accompanied by a smooth and silky tannin.

On the palate, it reveals itself as enveloping, with a well-integrated tannic texture and a freshness that surprises despite its age. Perfect for those who love great meditation wines, it pairs beautifully with robust dishes such as braised meats, game, and aged cheeses, a testament to an era when Barolo already expressed its unique and timeless potential.

A true historic gem, capable of exciting the most demanding enthusiasts with every sip.

Winery history
The Oberto family has been connected to the hills of La Morra for generations. The property's documented history begins with the purchase of vineyards in the 19th century and continues with the growth of the family estate over multiple generations. The winery's name comes from a small rural building on the site, a feature that has become a symbol of the estate. The estate later developed a modern winery while maintaining its connection to La Morra's historic crus.
Production philosophy
The winery's approach prioritizes the expression of the terroir: parcels are vinified separately to emphasize the characteristics of each cru, with careful attention to the quality and typicity of the grapes. The wines are intended to represent the terroir, the vintage and the family tradition.
Terroir and vineyards
All vineyards are located in the crus of La Morra, within the Barolo area. Among the vineyards mentioned by the estate are Bricco San Biagio, Roggeri, Rive, Cappallotti, Rocchettevino and Tre Querce, with exposures and soil types typical of the Barolo hills.
Awards and recognitions
Among the accolades listed online: Barolo Roggeri was included in the "Best in Show" list of the Decanter World Wine Awards.
