The Classique AOC - Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons is a wine that exemplifies the excellence and commitment to quality of the Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons winery, a joint venture between the South African Rupert family and the famous French Rothschild wine dynasty. Located in the picturesque Franschhoek Valley, South Africa, this winery has earned an international reputation for producing distinctive wines that reflect the uniqueness of the South African terroir combined with the elegance and refinement typical of the French winemaking tradition.

The Classique is probably their best-known red blend, aiming to offer a balanced and approachable tasting experience whilst maintaining a high standard of quality. This wine represents the essence of the French-South African collaboration, combining traditional Bordeaux varietals in a completely new context.

Although the term "AOC" is specifically linked to the French wine classification system, indicating the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, its use in this context underlines the winery's intent to produce wines according to rigorous quality standards and with a strong link with their territory of origin. In South Africa, terms such as “Wine of Origin” (WO) would be more commonly used to indicate the specific provenance of wines.

The Classique usually presents itself with a blend dominated by varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, offering the palate notes of ripe red fruit, such as cassis and plums, together with nuances of sweet spices and a touch of vanilla and chocolate, due to aging in French oak barriques. The tannic structure is well integrated, contributing to a soft and pleasantly long sip.

Ideal to accompany red meats, game dishes and mature cheeses, the Classique AOC - Rupert & Rothschild Vignerons is appreciated for its ability to combine aromatic intensity and drinkability, making it suitable both for special occasions and for the daily pleasure of a good glass of wine.
