Petruccino DOC Rocca Orcia by Podere Forte is a rich and intense expression of Sangiovese, a hallmark grape variety of Tuscany, cultivated in the picturesque region of Orcia. This wine represents a younger and more accessible version of its elder sibling, Petrucci, but doesn’t fail to display a complexity and structure that pleasantly surprises.

Produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, the vinification of Petruccino takes place in large wooden vats, followed by aging in oak barrels which helps to soften the young tannins, bestowing the wine with a rare softness and elegance for its price range. The result is a wine that boasts a beautiful deep ruby red color, with luminous reflections in the glass.

On the nose, Petruccino DOC Rocca Orcia offers aromas of ripe cherry, spicy notes of black pepper, and an undertone of damp earth, typical of the Orcia terroir, imparting a unique and recognizable character. On the palate, the power of Sangiovese is balanced by surprising freshness, with well-integrated acidity and silky tannins that meld into a long and persistent finish.

This wine pairs perfectly with traditional Tuscan cuisine, such as Florentine steak, dishes featuring porcini mushrooms, or aged cheeses. It is also an excellent choice for a special occasion or an intimate dinner, thanks to its ability to evolve and improve in the glass over the course of an evening.

Petruccino is undoubtedly a testament to the passion and attention to detail of Podere Forte, which is reflected in the elegance and drinkability of this splendid red wine.

Winery history
Podere Forte was founded as an agricultural project led by Pasquale Forte and developed around the idea of a self-sufficient estate. The estate, operating since 1997, has re-created an integrated farm in the Val d’Orcia where viticulture, olive growing, beekeeping and livestock farming coexist, following organic and biodynamic practices.
Production philosophy
The estate is managed according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture, with attention to soil health, production autonomy and the enhancement of local resources. The approach combines traditional techniques with precision tools in a system called "Sistema Forte," aimed at environmental and social sustainability.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in the Val d’Orcia, a landscape recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the vineyards are planted on soils rich in schist and clay at varying elevations, which favor typical expressions of Sangiovese and Bordeaux-style blends. The estate also has extensive olive groves and large areas of agricultural land.
