The Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC from Elena Walch shows a restrained, refined profile typical of the Alto Adige region. In the glass it displays a light ruby color; on the nose there are notes of red fruits — cherry and raspberry — accompanied by floral hints and a subtle earthy and spicy backdrop. On the palate it is medium-bodied, supported by fresh acidity and soft tannins that give it smoothness and grace without excess extraction or power.

It is a versatile wine, suitable with white meats, not too fatty cured meats, mushrooms and fresh or medium-aged cheeses. It also lends itself to being enjoyed on its own as a wine for conversation. Recommended serving temperature around 14–16 °C, in wide glasses that enhance the aromas. For those wishing to keep it for a few years, monitor cellar conditions: the wine maintains balance and freshness if stored appropriately.

Winery history
Trained as an architect, Elena Walch raised the international profile of her family estate by modernising vineyard and cellar practices and emphasising single-vineyard expression. In recent years leadership has been progressively assumed by her daughters Julia and Karoline (fifth generation).
Production philosophy
Strongly terroir-driven approach: emphasis on single 'Vigna' sites, manual vineyard work, sustainability-oriented practices and careful cellar ageing (e.g. French barriques and extended bottle ageing).
Terroir and vineyards
Estate and vineyards located in Alto Adige/Südtirol (Termeno/Tramin, Caldaro). Calcareous and varied soils; climate combining summer warmth with cool Dolomite winds. The producer cites Vigna Castel Ringberg as a single vineyard of about 20 hectares; Vigna Kastelaz is a steep terraced site above Tramin.

The winery and individual wines regularly appear in rankings and guides: among the acknowledgements are mentions in James Suckling, Gambero Rosso, and listings in guides such as Veronelli, VITAE and Doctor Wine.
