The Riesling Alto Adige DOC Vigna Castel Ringberg by Elena Walch clearly expresses the grape's character within the mountainous setting of Alto Adige. On the nose are notes of ripe citrus, white flowers and a hint of white-fleshed fruit recalling peach and apple. The aroma is clean and linear, with a mineral hint, without entering into technical detail. It is a wine of measured personality, aimed more at precision than power.

On the palate it confirms lively freshness and balanced acidity that support a saline, lithe texture. The body is restrained but present, with citrus returns and a persistence that invites pairing with fish, shellfish, grilled vegetables or fresh cheeses. It is suited to being served lightly chilled and enjoyed young to appreciate the primary tension, while retaining a modest ability to evolve in bottle for a few years under suitable conditions.

Winery history
Trained as an architect, Elena Walch raised the international profile of her family estate by modernising vineyard and cellar practices and emphasising single-vineyard expression. In recent years leadership has been progressively assumed by her daughters Julia and Karoline (fifth generation).
Production philosophy
Strongly terroir-driven approach: emphasis on single 'Vigna' sites, manual vineyard work, sustainability-oriented practices and careful cellar ageing (e.g. French barriques and extended bottle ageing).
Terroir and vineyards
Estate and vineyards located in Alto Adige/Südtirol (Termeno/Tramin, Caldaro). Calcareous and varied soils; climate combining summer warmth with cool Dolomite winds. The producer cites Vigna Castel Ringberg as a single vineyard of about 20 hectares; Vigna Kastelaz is a steep terraced site above Tramin.
