Starting from the 1997 harvest, one of the most interesting of the decade, Monchiero Carbone began the production of the Roero Riserva "Printi". The message that this selection embodies is that of a product that can compare with the more structured Piedmontese reds, able to face decidedly long aging periods in absolute tranquility without having to give up the typical elegance of Nebbioli grown on the Roero hills. .

The grapes are harvested in mid-October. Maceration with the skins is always long and slow to allow the must to be enriched with all the natural components contained in the grape. After racking, the wine is placed in small wood of different passages, where the malolactic fermentation ends and where it remains for at least 22-24 months. Another year of maturation in the tranquility of the ancient cellars after bottling prepares the product for its debut.

In the glass it shows an intense and brilliant ruby red color. The nose is refined and very aromatic, the fruity aromas stand out at first of raspberry and blackberry, and subsequently hints of cocoa, cinnamon and noble woods emerge. LOn the palate it is full and of great character, followed by an excellent tannic progression. The elegance of the Roerine tannins and the perfect balance between them and alcohol result in a long and harmonious finish to be savored.

The remarkable structure and fullness of this wine require important courses of meat, roasts, game and aged cheeses. A red of great value and quality that after the first sip will immediately give great emotions.

Winery history
The Monchiero-Carbone family states a winemaking tradition dating back to the early 20th century and, on its official website, traces family roots to 1918; over time family members reunited and expanded the vineyards around Canale to develop the company's modern production. Third-party sources indicate that the winery’s structure was consolidated from the late 1980s/early 1990s, when the vineyards of two families were brought together to begin the joint enterprise.
Production philosophy
The estate focuses on the native grape varieties of the area and on an approach that showcases the terroir of the Roero and Langhe hills, experimenting with aging techniques to enhance the longevity of certain whites and reds. In recent years it has developed aged interpretations of Arneis.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery is located in Canale, in the heart of the Roero. The vineyards mentioned by the winery are situated on hills with sandy soils and marl that enhance the expressiveness of Arneis; among the crus cited are Renesio Incisa and the cru Mombirone for Barbera.
