The Rosso IGT Alta Valle della Greve Capogatto from Poggio Scalette expresses the character of its geographical indication with restraint. Of medium ruby colour, it opens on the nose with notes of ripe red fruit and light earthy nuances; the bouquet remains composed and not exaggerated, offering aromas of moderate intensity. On the palate it shows structure and a gustatory tension that supports drinkability, with present but well-integrated tannins and a discreetly persistent finish. Overall it offers a clear balance and moderate recognisability.

It is suitable for everyday drinking as well as informal occasions, pairing with meat dishes, rustic sauces or semi-aged cheeses; it is advisable to serve it slightly cooler than room temperature to highlight its balance and freshness. For a more complete experience, open the bottle a few minutes before serving. The recommendations are cautious, based on the typical organoleptic profile of IGT reds of the cited designation.

Historic vineyards of the cru "Il Carbonaione" with Sangiovese di Lamole vines of considerable age. Product range: Il Carbonaione, Chianti Classico, Capogatto, Piantonaia, Chiara Aurora, Richiari and the oil Il Corto. Terraced vineyards at 350–550 m above sea level with dry-stone walls typical of the area. Estate production featured in wine guides and specialist magazines.
Winery history
The current Podere Poggio Scalette originated from the restoration of an abandoned property on the Ruffoli hill: Vittorio Fiore and his wife Adriana Assjè di Marcorà acquired the land in the early 1990s, establishing the estate as an independent concern in 1991 and expanding it with subsequent acquisitions in 1996. Over time the Fiore family has enhanced historic vineyards — in particular the cru known as "Il Carbonaione" — restoring the terraced plots to production and developing a range of IGT and Chianti Classico DOCG wines.
Production philosophy
Production focused on expressing the territory: respect for the terraced soils and historic vineyards, with careful work in the vineyard and cellar to produce wines that reflect the altitude and exposure of Ruffoli’s vineyards. The estate states an approach rooted in a passion for the land, the vine and people, with attention to the local terroir.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Alta Valle della Greve area, between 350 and 550 m above sea level, on terraced slopes characterized by sandy soils with a stony content; the hill of Ruffoli is considered one of the best areas of the Val di Greve for growing vines and olives.
