The Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC from the Muri-Gries winery is an authentic expression of this noble variety in one of the most renowned regions for high-quality viticulture. Characterized by an ideal climate benefiting from fresh alpine breezes and intense sun exposure, this wine demonstrates unparalleled complexity and finesse.

Visually, it presents a delicate yet bright ruby red color, typical of Pinot Nero. On the nose, the bouquet is intriguing, with aromas of cherry and strawberry intertwining with subtle hints of light spices and a delicate trace of forest floor, indicating oak barrel aging that adds layers of complexity without overpowering the fruit's freshness.

On the palate, the Pinot Nero from Muri-Gries surprises with its structural elegance. The acidity is well-balanced, supporting a medium body and a silky texture. The flavors of ripe red fruits are enriched by touches of vanilla and a light leather aftertaste, evolving into a persistent and clean finish.

This wine reflects the skill with which the Muri-Gries winery manages this challenging grape variety, making the Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC an excellent choice for wine enthusiasts seeking a sophisticated and terroir-driven expression. It pairs beautifully with delicate dishes such as mushroom risottos, white meats, and elaborate fish dishes. Serve at a temperature of 16-18°C to fully appreciate its profile.

An excellent addition to any connoisseur's cellar, the Pinot Nero Alto Adige DOC from Muri-Gries also makes the perfect gift for lovers of great red wine.

Winery history
The present-day Muri-Gries estate stems from the Benedictine monks who moved from Muri to Gries, on the outskirts of Bolzano. Documents and the estate's history attest to the monastic community's continuous winegrowing since the 19th century, evolving from trading wine in demijohns to a progressive focus on quality bottled wines and on selected ranges such as "Abtei Muri."
Production philosophy
Combining respect for monastic tradition with innovation in the cellar: careful vineyard management, selective use of the best sites, and winemaking that blends stainless steel and wood to showcase the character of native varieties, particularly Lagrein.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are concentrated around Bolzano and on the plain and sunny slopes of the Appiano/Eppan plateau. Soils include porphyritic and gravelly types that enhance the character of the local varieties.
Awards and recognitions
Among the recognitions received is, for example, the award of 3 Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso to the Pinot Noir Riserva "Abtei Muri" in the Vini d'Italia 2019 guide.
