This exquisite wine is crafted from Sylvaner grapes, a variety that has found an ideal terroir in the Alto Adige region to express all its unique characteristics.

The Muri-Gries winery, known for its commitment to producing high-quality wines, grows Sylvaner grapes in carefully selected vineyards located in areas that benefit from a perfect microclimate, characterized by sunny days and cool nights during the ripening period. This allows for grapes rich in aromas and with the right acidity, essential elements for producing a balanced and complex Sylvaner.

The Sylvaner Alto Adige DOC from Muri-Gries presents a light straw-yellow color, reflecting the wine's freshness and vibrancy. On the nose, it offers a rich bouquet with notes of green-fleshed fruits like apple and pear, mixed with floral aromas and a slight mineral note that adds complexity to the aromatic profile.

On the palate, the wine is fresh and harmonious, with a beautiful acidity that balances the palate and prolongs the tasting pleasure. The finish is clean and persistent, leaving a pleasant sensation of freshness and purity.

It is recommended to serve the Sylvaner Alto Adige DOC from Muri-Gries at a temperature of 8-10°C, ideal for enhancing its characteristics. It is a perfect wine to pair with fish dishes, seafood, or as an aperitif. It also excels when paired with light starters and vegetarian dishes, showcasing its versatility and ability to enhance the dining experience.

This Sylvaner is an example of how the Muri-Gries winery is able to elevate the typicity of a local variety, transforming the grapes into a wine that speaks of its territory, while maintaining a refined and distinctive style.

Winery history
The present-day Muri-Gries estate stems from the Benedictine monks who moved from Muri to Gries, on the outskirts of Bolzano. Documents and the estate's history attest to the monastic community's continuous winegrowing since the 19th century, evolving from trading wine in demijohns to a progressive focus on quality bottled wines and on selected ranges such as "Abtei Muri."
Production philosophy
Combining respect for monastic tradition with innovation in the cellar: careful vineyard management, selective use of the best sites, and winemaking that blends stainless steel and wood to showcase the character of native varieties, particularly Lagrein.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards are concentrated around Bolzano and on the plain and sunny slopes of the Appiano/Eppan plateau. Soils include porphyritic and gravelly types that enhance the character of the local varieties.
Awards and recognitions
Among the recognitions received is, for example, the award of 3 Bicchieri from Gambero Rosso to the Pinot Noir Riserva "Abtei Muri" in the Vini d'Italia 2019 guide.
