The Barbera d'Asti DOCG "Bricco dell'Uccellone" by Braida is an iconic wine that marked a turning point in the perception of Barbera, elevating it to one of the leading vines of the Italian wine scene. First produced in the 1980s by Giacomo Bologna, this wine demonstrated the extraordinary potential of Barbera, when vinified with care and passion. The Braida winery, founded by the Bologna family, continues to produce the "Bricco dell'Uccellone" with the same innovative spirit and the same dedication to quality.
The "Bricco dell'Uccellone" stands out for its intense and deep red color, with reflections that turn towards purple. On the nose, it offers a complex and enveloping bouquet, with dominant notes of ripe black fruit, such as blackberries and plums, together with rich nuances of chocolate, coffee and vanilla, the result of careful aging in French oak barriques.
In the mouth, the wine reveals an imposing structure, supported by a notable concentration and velvety tannins. The acidity, typical of the Barbera grape, is well balanced by the richness of the fruit and the elegant integration with the wood, contributing to an intense and persistent drink, with a long and memorable finish.
Ideal in combination with structured dishes rich in flavour, such as grilled red meats, braised meats, truffle-based dishes and mature cheeses, "Bricco dell'Uccellone" is also a wine that lends itself magnificently to ageing, capable of evolving and gain complexity over time.
