The Chardonnay Contessa Entellina DOC - La Fuga by Donnafugata represents an oenological excellence coming from the sunny lands of Sicily. This white wine stands out for its elegance and aromatic finesse, the result of careful winemaking and a meticulous selection of grapes.

Cultivated in the vineyards of Contessa Entellina, in the heart of Sicily, the Chardonnay grapes benefit from the Mediterranean climate, characterized by intense solar exposure and significant temperature variations between day and night, which contribute to the development of the aromatic intensity and freshness of the fruit.

Visually, "La Fuga" presents itself with a bright straw-yellow color, often enriched by greenish reflections that testify to its youthfulness and vibrancy. The nose is immediately captivating, offering an aromatic range that spans from tropical fruits, such as mango and papaya, to notes of white pulp fruit, including peach and melon, up to nuances of white flowers and light strokes of vanilla and butter given by a brief passage in barrique.

On the palate, "La Fuga" confirms its complexity. The attack is fresh, almost crisp, with a nice acidity that balances everything and leads to a medium-full palate, where the fruit returns dominant and elegantly blends with mineral touches and a finish that leaves a pleasant sensation of cleanliness and persistence.

This Chardonnay pairs perfectly with elaborate fish dishes, shellfish, and can be an excellent companion to fresh cheeses or vegetarian dishes based on grilled vegetables. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 10-12°C to enhance all its organoleptic qualities.

With its balanced profile and refinement, the Chardonnay Contessa Entellina DOC - La Fuga by Donnafugata is a classy choice for any special occasion or simply to enjoy a moment of quality with a good glass of wine.

Winery history
Donnafugata began as an entrepreneurial project of the Rallo family, led by Giacomo and Gabriella Rallo. The modern company grew out of the family’s historical roots in the province of Marsala. Since its founding the brand has expanded its presence across several Sicilian territories and is now led by the next generation. Over the years the company has complemented its traditional production with sustainability initiatives, experimentation with indigenous grape varieties, and cultural projects connected to art and music.
Production philosophy
Enhancing biodiversity and Sicily's indigenous grape varieties, combining respect for the land with sustainable practices. Donnafugata focuses on carefully crafted, sometimes niche wines rooted in distinct territories, with a strong connection to the arts and cultural initiatives such as Donnafugata Music & Wine.
Terroir and vineyards
Production is spread across several estates in Sicily: Contessa Entellina, the volcanic island of Pantelleria, the Vittoria district, the slopes of Etna and the historic cellars of Marsala. Each area is employed to express different grape varieties and styles, from Pantelleria’s passito wines to the reds of Vittoria and Etna.
Awards and recognitions
Donnafugata's iconic wines, particularly the Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryé, have received accolades and high ratings from Italian and international guides and publications, including Gambero Rosso, DoctorWine, Veronelli, and other international reviewers cited by the company.
