The Gattinara DOCG 2022 from Nervi shows a classic, restrained and well-balanced profile. On the nose it opens with notes of red fruit compote, a light scent of rose petals and a sharp mineral streak; in the background there are spicy hints and an earthy note that underline its origin. The structure is supported by lively acidity and tannins that are present but well integrated, which give balance and lift without weighing down the sip.

On the palate it proves compact and refined: the fruit comes back clean, freshness guides the palate and the sapidity carries on its course, leaving a pleasant persistence. It’s a Gattinara to be enjoyed slowly, now or after a few years in the cellar, ideal with roasted meats, savory stews and aged cheeses; serve at moderate temperature to appreciate its tension and aromatic echoes. It’s a label that clearly expresses terroir and craftsmanship.

Nervi – Winery in Piemonte

Discover the story and wines of Nervi.

Historic winery in Gattinara (Piedmont) known for its Nebbiolo expressions (Gattinara DOCG) and for the Molsino and Valferana crus.
Region: Piemonte
Country: Italia
Founded: 1906
Grapes: Nebbiolo (Spanna), Uva Rara, Vespolina, Erbaluce
One of the oldest wineries in Gattinara, with deep historical roots. Historic vineyards and single-cru sites such as Molsino and Valferana. Traditional production method: classic fermentations and ageing in large wooden casks. Roberto Conterno's involvement since 2018, with a quality-focused relaunch.
Winery history
Founded by Luigi Nervi in 1906, the winery has deep roots in the production of Nebbiolo from Alto Piemonte. During the 20th century the Nervi family expanded the vineyards and began marketing single-cru bottlings. In 2011 Norwegian investors joined the ownership, and subsequent management and quality developments led, from 2018, to the involvement of Roberto Conterno in the ownership and management of the winery.
Production philosophy
Traditional work with Nebbiolo, with vineyard interventions aimed at limiting manipulation, traditional fermentations and long ageing in large oak casks. A conservative cellar approach aimed at highlighting the terroir and the wines' longevity.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards located on the slopes of the Alpine Arc at the foot of Monte Rosa; soils rich in clay and volcanic gravel that impart minerality and structure to the Nebbiolo grown in the historic crus Molsino, Valferana, Garavoglie and Casacce.
