The nose immediately reveals enveloping notes of dried fruits, such as walnuts and almonds, accompanied by hints of ripe fruits, such as apricots and plums, slightly caramelized. Notes of sweet spices, like cinnamon and vanilla, complete the aroma, promising a rich and full tasting experience.
On the palate, the Niepoort Tawny Porto is soft yet structured, with a perfect balance between the sweetness of the fruit and the refreshing acidity. The palate is caressed by flavors of cooked fruit and toast, with an aftertaste that lingers pleasantly, revealing a light touch of bitter chocolate towards the end.
Served slightly chilled, this wine is ideal as an aperitif or paired with hard cheeses, chocolate-based desserts, or dried fruits. It is also an excellent choice to conclude a meal, offering a moment of pure pleasure and contemplation.
Niepoort is recognized for its ability to blend traditional methods and innovation, and this Tawny is a living testimony of the art and mastery that define their fortified wines. A taste exploration that carries with it the essence of the Douro.

Distillation
The Aguardente Velhíssima is a pomace distillate (aguardente) produced as a blend: aged spirits (for example a blend of lots aged 25 and 10 years) finished in oak casks.
Ageing
Aging in wood for Ports (traditional barrels/pipes in Vila Nova de Gaia for tawny and colheita) and in oak barrels for the spirits; some Colheita labels indicate long aging periods in traditional pipes.
