In the heart of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Piera Martellozzo produces the refined "Refosco dal Peduncolo DOC Friuli - Terre Magre," a red wine that is the pure expression of one of the most characteristic grape varieties of the area. The Refosco dal Peduncolo, known for its red stem when the grape is ripe, offers a surprising organoleptic complexity that reflects the passion and innovation of this historic winery.

Visually, the wine presents itself with an intense and deep red color. On the nose, wild notes of berries resonate, particularly blueberry and raspberry, with a delicate undertone of spices and vanilla, due to the wood aging that refines the aromatic profile without overpowering the fruity nature of the wine.

On the palate, "Refosco dal Peduncolo DOC Friuli - Terre Magre" reveals itself to be structured and well-balanced. The attack is robust, with good acidity balancing the generous tannic component. This is a wine that promises good longevity, capable of evolving elegantly over time.

Ideal for accompanying grilled red meat dishes or robust stews, this Refosco also pairs well with aged cheeses. Its versatility makes it suitable for an informal evening with friends or a more formal event.

With an approach that combines tradition and innovation, Piera Martellozzo winery invites you to discover this fascinating grape variety through the "Refosco dal Peduncolo DOC Friuli - Terre Magre," a wine that captures the essence of Friuli in every sip.

Winery history
The company’s history dates back to the late 19th century, with the first generation of the Martellozzo family active in 1899 in the province of Padua. In the 1990s Piera, of the third generation, took the helm of the business, began re-evaluating indigenous grape varieties and launched its first organic line. In the early 2000s the headquarters were consolidated in San Quirino, in the Friuli Grave area, serving as the starting point for expansion into national and international markets.
Production philosophy
The estate combines respect for the land with an innovative approach: careful selection of well‑suited vineyard parcels, the production of wines that reflect the local territory, and a focus on sustainable practices through measures such as photovoltaic systems, lightweight packaging, water reuse and careful selection of label materials.
Terroir and vineyards
Primarily operating in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, with ties to the Triveneto region; the wines are an expression of gravelly soils and a microclimate tempered by the Adriatic and sheltered by the mountains to the north.
