Description

Tokaji Late Harvest by Oremus is a full-bodied white dessert wine produced with grapes from vines of the Furmint (50%), Zeta (25%), Harslevelü (20)% and Muscat de Lunel (5%) varieties.

The Tokaj region is located within the mountain range of northeastern Hungary, and the winery is located in the geographical heart of this region. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand from the beginning of September to the beginning of October, in several shifts, and always in small lots, but only those containing at least 50% of "botrytis" mold (noble rot).

In the cellar the grapes are gently pressed, giving mold a leading role. The mash is then fermented in new Hungarian oak barrels (some 136-litre Göncer barrels and some 220-litre Szerednye barrels) for 30 months. Aging is also carried out in Hungarian oak barrels, for a period of 6 months. It is then bottled, left to rest and round off harmoniously for at least another 15 months in the cellars of the estate.

The Late Harvest is an interesting coupage of different grape varieties that produce an exceptionally balanced wine. In the glass, this extraordinary wine shines in a bright golden yellow with glittering highlights. The nose reveals a fruity aromatic bouquet of juicy vine peaches and ripe quince, with fresh citrus notes, and floral hints of white summer flowers and acacia honey.

This Tokaj delights the palate with a fruity flavor of apricot, dark william pear and lemon. The juicy sweetness blends perfectly with the fine and elegant acidity, with a perfect balance for a finish of a wonderful length. The Hungarian sweet Tokaj can be enjoyed with all kinds of desserts and fresh fruit, or even with fine pastry. But this wine is also excellently suited to mature soft cheeses.
