Winery history Château de Montguéret

Montguéret Castle is located in Nueil-sur-Layon and has been described as built in the Napoleon III style. In the 1980s the Lacheteau family revived production and, subsequently, ownership/management has been associated with the Les Grands Chais de France group.

Production philosophy

The production is described as focused on respect for the territory and the typicity of the local appellations; some technical sources indicate that the estate is managed according to the cahier des charges HVE.

Terroir and vineyards

The estate is located in the heart of the Haut-Layon, in the department of Maine-et-Loire, within the Loire Valley: the labels refer to the areas of Anjou, Saumur and the Coteaux du Layon.

Awards and recognitions

Professional review citations: Falstaff reports scores. Guide Hachette describes the Saumur Brut as "a very well-made wine."
