Winery history Grattamacco

The winery, acquired by Piermario Meletti Cavallari in 1977, was among the first to develop vineyards on the hills of Bolgheri and to bring attention to varieties such as Vermentino and Sangiovese alongside Bordeaux varieties. Over the years it helped establish and shape the local appellation; the property was later transferred to a new owner in the 2000s, and the label is now part of the Collemassari/ColleMassari group for the marketing and management of the estates.

Production philosophy

Production focused on the value of the terroir: manual vineyard work, limited use of cellar technology and practices aimed at preserving the soils' mineral and saline expression. The winery prioritizes winemaking that allows the character and typicity of each vineyard to emerge.

Terroir and vineyards

Located between Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri, the estate sits on hills facing the sea at elevations ranging approximately between 100 and 200 meters above sea level. The soils are characterized by white clays and marine flysch, which impart a pronounced mineral component, with the constant influence of the sea breeze.
