Winery history La Selvanella

La Selvanella is known as one of the first crus to appear on the label in the Chianti Classico denomination: the first vintage cited in sources is 1969. Over time the La Selvanella vineyard has been celebrated for the consistency of its style and for vertical tastings by specialist critics. The wine’s commercial management and promotion are linked to well‑established Tuscan operators.

Production philosophy

The approach is centered on expressing the single vineyard: restrained winemaking practices that respect the grapes and the terroir, massal selection for Sangiovese, and extended maturation in large casks to preserve structure and balance while enhancing the cru's elegance.

Terroir and vineyards

Lucarelli locality, in the municipality of Radda in Chianti, on the right bank of the Pesa stream; altitudes range from approximately 330 to 600 metres above sea level. Soils are dominated by Macigno, Formazione di Sillano and occasional patches of Pietraforte; the morphological setting and the cool microclimate contribute to a marked diurnal temperature range and to the aromatic profile of Sangiovese.
