Winery history Tenuta Santa Croce

The estate sits on a plateau between Orvieto and Lake Bolsena, in a building of monastic origin. The cellar was acquired and renovated by the current owners starting in 1985, and the vineyard has been progressively expanded to its present cultivated area. The operation has maintained a handcrafted approach: manual harvesting and in-house winemaking to showcase the identity of the local volcanic terroir.

Production philosophy

Cultivated according to organic principles without the use of herbicides, pesticides or chemical fertilizers; low yields per vine to prioritize quality and concentration. At the winery, a winemaking approach that respects the wine is preferred and sustainability-oriented choices such as the use of recyclable Select Green closures.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in the Orvieto DOC area, on slopes ranging from gentle to steep, characterized by volcanic terroir, a favorable southwest exposure, and microclimates that enable the production of structured red wines in an area traditionally known for whites.
