The Beefeater Gin Distillery is located in the London borough of Kennington; Beefeater 24 is a London Dry Gin created by Master Distiller Desmond Payne in 2008.
A neutral grain alcohol is the base in which twelve different botanicals are left to macerate, for a period of 24 hours; the herbs and spices used are: juniper, japanese sencha green tea, chinese green tea, grapefruit, lemon, almonds, bitter orange, coriander, iris root, licorice, angelica root and seeds. After the maceration time it is distilled in copper stills.
Beefeater 24 is particularly fragrant on the nose with powerful notes of juniper and coriander, light and fresh hints of citrus, with slightly spicy bitter orange extracts. The whole is complemented by angelica and slightly bitter and herbaceous iris roots.
In the mouth it is particularly intense and a little "sharp" on the tongue; reflects aromas of strong juniper and fresh and spicy bitter orange followed by coriander and earthy and herbaceous notes. In the finish there is also the sweet licorice with a rather dry and long aftertaste of juniper, a lot of almond and a little licorice.
Gin Beefeater 24 is rarely drunk straight, more often it is used to create fabulous long drinks and cocktails such as gin tonic, gin fizz or martini.
