The name "Lighea" is inspired by Greek mythology, enveloping the taster in an aura of mystery and seduction that also characterizes the nuances of the wine itself.
Produced in the sun-drenched lands of Pantelleria, the island between Sicily and North Africa, this label represents an excellent interpretation of the Zibibbo grape, also known as Muscat of Alexandria. The vines grow in particularly arid conditions, surrounded by dry stone walls, which not only protect the plants from the salty winds but also help to create a unique microclimate.
The winemaking process for Lighea begins with the manual harvesting of the grapes, followed by a brief maceration and fermentation at controlled temperatures. The result is a straw-yellow wine with brilliant reflections. On the nose, it opens with an intense and persistent bouquet, dominated by notes of ripe fruit such as peaches and apricots, enriched by delicate floral hints and a slight minerality.
On the palate, "Lighea" by Donnafugata surprises with its perfect balance between sweetness and freshness. The influence of the sea and volcanic soil is expressed through a vibrant acidity that balances the natural sweetness of the Zibibbo grape, leaving a pleasant sensation of cleanliness and freshness.
Ideal as an aperitif, Lighea pairs beautifully with light appetizers, fish-based dishes, or seafood, and proves to be an excellent companion for spicy Asian cuisine. A versatile wine that invites discovery of the deep and enchanting essence of Pantelleria.
