Chimay blue cap is a 9% vol quadrupel, the most robust of the Chimay Trappist beers. Considered by many to be a Belgian strong ale, Chimay Grand Reserve, or blue cap, is a beer that gives its best when aged. 24 months after bottling, the beer evolves and improves its organoleptic qualities.
It is a particularly dark beer, with a monk's habit color and a dense and creamy brownish foam. It is a rather complex beer, where spicy hints of nutmeg and cloves dominate, followed by notes of red fruit and yeast. In the mouth it proposes the olfactory scents and has a remarkable structure.
The malty component prevails over the others, and the robust alcohol content gives a pleasant sensation. This Chimay has a long shelf life and can remain drinkable for up to 5 years if stored properly.
