The Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT from Poggio al Lupo is an emblem of elegance and refinement that emerges from the green hills of Tuscany. This wine represents a distinguished example of the Cabernet Sauvignon variety, grown in one of Italy's most prestigious terroirs.

From the vineyard, the bunches are meticulously selected to ensure that only the best reach the winery. The winemaking process follows traditional methods combined with modern technologies that allow for the best expression of the grape variety and the soil characteristics.

On the nose, it is distinguished by a complex bouquet of ripe red fruits, spices, and subtle hints of aromatic herbs, which blend into perfect harmony thanks to the elegant aging in oak barrels. This maturation not only adds structure but also vanilla and lightly toasted notes that further enrich the sensory profile.

On the palate, the Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT from Poggio al Lupo is vigorous yet balanced, with robust but refined tannins and a long, persistent finish. The acidity is well integrated, making this wine extremely enjoyable to drink now, but also ideal for aging.

This wine pairs magnificently with robust dishes such as red meat roasts, game, and aged cheeses. Its structure also makes it an excellent companion for conversations by the fireplace on a winter evening.

Ultimately, the Cabernet Sauvignon Toscana IGT from Poggio al Lupo is a superb choice for those seeking a wine that combines tradition, intensity, and nobility, capable of representing Tuscany in the glass with every sip.

Poggio al Tufo – Winery in Toscana

Discover the story and wines of Poggio al Tufo.

A winery of Tommasi Family Estates located in the Tuscan Maremma near Pitigliano. It produces wines from outside the family's original territory, with particular attention to tuff soils and to blends of native and international grape varieties.
Region: Toscana
Country: Italia
Grapes: Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Vermentino, Alicante Bouschet, Merlot, Chardonnay, Syrah
Main estates: Rompicollo, Albore and Doganella. Tuffaceous soils of volcanic origin that characterize the terroir. Produced both as blends and as single-varietal wines such as Cabernet and Vermentino. A project that is part of Tommasi Family Estates, the family's first investment outside Valpolicella. Vineyard zoning and pedoclimatic research.
Winery history
The property began as a project of Tommasi Family Estates to expand production beyond Valpolicella. The acquisition of land in the Pitigliano area dates back to the late 1990s, and since then the company has developed the Rompicollo, Albore and Doganella estates, renovating the farmhouse and planting vineyards aimed at producing Tuscan blends and single-varietal wines.
Production philosophy
Terroir-focused approach and pedoclimatic research: vineyard zoning, selection of suitable clones and rootstocks, high planting density and thinning techniques to prioritize the quality and character of the fruit, with attention to the typical expressions of the Maremma and its tuffaceous soils.
Terroir and vineyards
The estates are located in the Tuscan Maremma, around Pitigliano and Scansano. The vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate and sit on tuffaceous soils of volcanic origin that influence minerality and water retention, with distinct microzones such as Rompicollo, Albore and Doganella.
