Viti Vecchie is produced with grapes from vines with an average age of 50 years grown on a plot of about one hectare located in the municipality of Nizza Monferrato, and represent the maximum selection of Barbera.
The grapes are harvested manually in mid-September, carefully placed in crates to be transported to the cellar; here it is pressed, fermented at a controlled temperature and left to macerate for about 15 days. The refinement is carried out in small wooden barrels for about 18-24 months, the wine is then left to rest for about 6 months in steel tanks. Refinement in the bottle lasts for at least 6 months at a temperature of 20 ° C.
Its color is intense ruby red with violet reflections, but over time it tends slightly towards orange. The nose is extremely elegant with clear hints of red fruits, ripe cherries, which evolve towards spicy notes. In the mouth it is rather structured and velvety, pleasantly harmonious and a right balance between freshness and softness.
Nizza goes perfectly with second courses of red meat and game, or with well-aged cheeses.
