Altenberg Riesling Trocken GG - Von Othegraven is a German white wine of exceptional quality, classified as Grosses Gewächs (GG), which indicates the most valuable wines produced in Germany from vineyards classified as Grand Cru. Produced by the Von Othegraven winery, a historic winery located in the Moselle valley, this Riesling comes from the famous Altenberg vineyard, known for its steep slopes and its unique microclimate, which favor the production of very high quality grapes.
The concept of "Trocken" indicates that the wine is dry, characterized by a complete fermentation of sugars leading to a pure and intense expression of the varietal Riesling, without sugar residues. The “GG” designation guarantees that the wine comes from grapes grown in vineyards specifically classified for their exceptional quality and terroir, and that it meets rigorous production and aging standards.
At sight, Altenberg Riesling Trocken GG has a bright yellow color, with greenish reflections that suggest freshness and liveliness. On the nose, the bouquet is complex and rich, with dominant notes of citrus, white peach and green apple, followed by mineral and flint nuances, typical of the terroir-driven expression of Altenberg Riesling.
In the mouth, the wine is extraordinarily balanced, with a sharp and vibrant acidity that supports its structure and leads to a palate rich in flavors that reflect the olfactory notes. The minerality is pronounced, giving the wine remarkable complexity and depth, with a long and persistent finish that leaves an impression of elegance and purity.
Ideal in combination with fish dishes, seafood, spicy Asian cuisine or as an aperitif, Von Othegraven's Altenberg Riesling Trocken GG is also a meditation wine, which can be appreciated on its own to discover its richness of nuances and its ability to sublimely express the character of its terroir.
