The Merlot daSolo Monferrato DOC by Marchesi di Gresy is a very elegant Piedmontese interpretation of the Merlot vine, which finds a unique and distinctive expression in the lands of Monferrato. This wine embodies the philosophy of Marchesi di Gresy, a historic winery that combines respect for tradition and passion for innovation, focusing on uncompromising quality and the valorization of individual vines while respecting the terroir.

Grown in vineyards located in the Monferrato hills, an area renowned for its rich wine history and fertile soils, Merlot daSolo benefits from ideal climatic conditions and clay-limestone soil, which contribute to giving the wine an aromatic complexity and structure balanced tannins.

Visually, Merlot daSolo presents itself with a deep and lively ruby red color. On the nose, the wine offers a rich and inviting bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherries and plums, enriched by nuances of chocolate, vanilla and a touch of spices, thanks also to the aging in wood which adds complexity without overpowering the fruitfulness.

In the mouth, the Merlot daSolo Monferrato DOC surprises with its softness and roundness, with silky and well-integrated tannins that blend into an elegant structure. The balance between acidity and body is impeccable, with a palate that brings back the olfactory sensations of ripe fruit and lightly toasted notes, leading to a long and pleasantly persistent finish.

This wine pairs wonderfully with a variety of dishes, offering great versatility: from red meats and game to more elaborate dishes based on mushrooms and truffles, as well as medium and long-aged cheeses. Merlot daSolo Monferrato DOC is also an excellent companion for moments of conviviality and meditation, capable of evolving and revealing new nuances as time passes.

In conclusion, the Merlot daSolo Monferrato DOC by Marchesi di Gresy is a wine that expresses the character of Merlot with strength and finesse, interpreted through the unique terroir of Monferrato. It is a demonstration of the excellence achieved by Marchesi di Gresy in the production of wines that are at the same time an expression of the territory and the vision of the winery.

Winery history
The estate of Tenute Cisa Asinari has been linked to the di Grésy family since the 18th century; the family has owned the Martinenga cru since 1797. Winemaking under the Grésy label in its modern form was begun by Alberto di Grésy around 1973, when the family decided to produce wine exclusively from their own grapes and to promote wines that expressed the identity of the vineyards.
