The Grechetto di Lungarotti, labeled as "Il Pometo," is an extraordinary example of what Umbria has to offer in the wine scene. This IGT (Indicazione Geografica Tipica) wine reflects the dedication of the Lungarotti winery to creating high-quality wines that speak the language of their terroir.

Produced exclusively with Grechetto grapes, an indigenous variety of Umbria, "Il Pometo" best expresses the characteristics of this grape. The grapes are hand-picked at the peak of their optimal ripeness, ensuring that all the nuances of the territory are captured.

Visually, the wine presents a bright straw yellow color with greenish reflections that hint at its freshness. On the nose, lively hints of citrus, peach, and floral notes stand out, immediately inviting tasting. On the palate, "Il Pometo" surprises with its vivacity and balanced structure. The freshness is well supported by a pronounced minerality and a pleasant aromatic persistence that returns in the aftertaste.

Furthermore, its versatility makes it an ideal companion for a variety of dishes. It pairs beautifully with light appetizers, fish dishes, and vegetable-based specialties. It is also excellent as an aperitif.

Lungarotti's "Il Pometo" is not just a wine but a sensory journey that celebrates the excellence and richness of Umbria. Ideal for those seeking a white wine that offers both immediate drinkability and some aging potential, this Grechetto is a choice that never disappoints wine lovers.

Winery history
The Lungarotti family produced wine and oil for centuries; the modern enterprise took shape under Giorgio Lungarotti who, from the 1950s–60s, brought together the family estates and began production and wider-scale marketing. Over time the company promoted the local denomination, opened the Museo del Vino and later the Museo dell'Olivo e dell'Olio, established the Fondazione Lungarotti and expanded its holdings to include the Tenuta di Montefalco, where Sagrantino is produced. Management has remained in the family and in recent years has focused on quality, research and sustainability.
Production philosophy
Commitment to quality, respect for the land and family continuity, combined with a strong connection to culture: preserving and innovating while respecting tradition, with attention to sustainable practices and hospitality.
Terroir and vineyards
The main production areas are Torgiano and the Tenuta di Montefalco, in the heart of Umbria. The vineyards are cultivated using practices aimed at preserving water resources and improving grape quality. The estate manages vineyards both in Torgiano and in the Montefalco area.
Awards and recognitions
Among the historical recognitions: the first DOCs of Umbria for Torgiano Bianco and Rosso; the awarding of DOCG status to Torgiano Rosso Riserva. Labels such as Rubesco Vigna Monticchio have received significant awards and placements in national wine rankings.
