Bin 23 - Penfolds is a distinctive expression of Pinot Noir produced by the historic Australian winery Penfolds, known for its tradition of excellence and innovation in the world of wine. First launched in 2009, Bin 23 stands out within the Penfolds portfolio for its focus on this delicate and complex grape variety, offering a unique perspective on Australian Pinot Noir.
Penfolds is famous for its 'Bin' series, which includes a range of premium wines, each identified by a unique number. These wines are known for their quality, ageability and distinctive expression of Australia's diverse terroirs. Bin 23 Pinot Noir is a relatively recent addition to this series, and represents Penfolds' ambition to produce a Pinot Noir that can compete on the international stage.
Bin 23 Pinot Noir combines grapes from several Australian wine regions, including Adelaide Hills, Tasmania and Yarra Valley, regions which due to their cooler climates are particularly suitable for growing Pinot Noir. This choice aims to create a wine that reflects the variety and complexity that Pinot Noir can express in Australia.
At sight, Bin 23 - Penfolds shows a light cherry red color, typical of Pinot Noir. On the nose, the wine opens with a delicate and inviting aroma, which combines notes of red fruits such as cherries and strawberries, with floral nuances, sweet spices and a well-integrated touch of oak, the result of aging in barrique.
In the mouth, the wine is medium-light, with a fine tannic structure and a freshness that balances the aromatic richness. Ripe red fruit flavors are complemented by notes of spice and delicate minerality, leading to a long, harmonious finish.
Ideal paired with delicate dishes such as baked salmon, roast poultry and mushroom dishes, Bin 23 - Penfolds offers a sophisticated and multi-layered interpretation of Pinot Noir, demonstrating Penfolds' commitment to exploring and enhancing different grape varieties through the uniqueness of Australian terroirs.
