Chartreuse Green is a historic French liqueur, renowned for its aromatic complexity and distinctive green color. This historic elixir is produced by the monks of the Grande Chartreuse, located in the mountains near Grenoble, following a secret recipe dating back to 1605 which includes a blend of 130 herbs, plants, and flowers.
The 70cl version features a fascinating vibrancy in color, which is complemented by an equally vivid aromatic profile. On the nose, Chartreuse Green immediately offers penetrating notes of peppermint, chamomile, and various aromatic herbs. There is also an undertone of citrus and spices, including cinnamon and cardamom, which intertwine with a light floral hint.
On the palate, this spirited liqueur surprises with its velvety structure and perfect balance between sweetness and herbal intensity. The experience opens up with tones of anise and licorice, followed by a long and lingering finish where nuances of moss and wood emerge, leaving an almost meditative sensation.
Chartreuse Green is often served as a digestive after a meal but is also extremely versatile in mixology, where it can be the base for sophisticated and visually impactful cocktails. It is undoubtedly a must-have for enthusiasts of fine liquors and products with a rich historical legacy. Serve slightly chilled to enhance its complex aromatic profiles.
