The Henry Syrah DOC "Élevé en Fût de Chêne" by Maison Anselmet represents one of the most fascinating interpretations of Syrah in the Aosta Valley, an Italian region known for its distinctive, high-quality wines, the result of a unique terroir and ideal climatic conditions. Maison Anselmet, a family-run winery with deep roots in the Aosta Valley winemaking tradition, has been able to best bring out the characteristics of this grape variety, giving life to a wine that combines elegance, structure and complexity.

The vinification of this Syrah involves a careful selection of the grapes, followed by a controlled fermentation which aims to preserve the aromatic intensity and freshness of the fruit. The refinement "en fût de chêne", i.e. in oak barriques, for a variable period based on the vintage, helps to integrate the tannins and develop further levels of aromatic complexity, enriching the wine with spicy and vanilla notes that blend harmoniously with the varietal character of Syrah.

Wine Profile: Visually, Henry Syrah DOC has an intense and deep red color, with violet reflections that anticipate its youth and liveliness. On the nose, the bouquet is rich and complex, with predominant notes of ripe red and black fruits, such as blackberry and raspberry, enriched by spicy nuances of black pepper, liquorice and an elegant woody touch resulting from the aging in wood.

In the mouth, the wine reveals an extraordinary structure, with silky and well-integrated tannins that give a pleasant roundness to the palate. The balance between acidity and alcohol is impeccable, leading to a long and persistent finish, where the fruity and spicy notes intertwine with balsamic and mineral sensations, typical of the Aosta Valley terroir.

Gastronomic Pairings: The Henry Syrah DOC "Élevé en Fût de Chêne" by Maison Anselmet pairs beautifully with red meat dishes, game and mature cheeses. It is also ideal with aromatic and spicy preparations, which enhance its aromatic richness and flavor complexity.

This Syrah represents an excellent example of how the Aosta Valley, with its mountain vineyards and the passion of its winemakers, is able to offer unique and memorable interpretations of international grape varieties, confirming Maison Anselmet as one of the region's leading wineries , capable of transmitting the essence of an extraordinary territory in every bottle.

Vineyards in the Aosta Valley on moraine terraces with adret exposures. Approximately 10 hectares under direct management, divided into numerous small parcels. A strong emphasis on indigenous mountain grape varieties alongside international varieties. Selection of white, red and rosé wines, including some limited-edition labels. Distribution through national operators; international recognition.
Winery history
Documented evidence of the Anselmet family's presence in the vineyards dates back to the 16th century; the shift toward organized winemaking took place in the late 1970s with Renato Anselmet, from whom the modern estate took shape and developed over subsequent generations.
Production philosophy
The estate favors high-altitude, mountain viticulture, with hand-tended vineyards, minimal agronomic interventions and the selection of grape varieties based on the pedoclimatic characteristics of each individual plot. In the cellar it seeks to express the terroir through targeted maturation techniques and differentiated productions, including limited editions.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are concentrated in the so-called Central Valley of the Aosta Valley, on morainic soils exposed on the left-hand side of the Dora Baltea, with parcels ranging from approximately 550 to over 900 metres above sea level and across an area stretching from Avise to Chambave. Viticulture is often terraced and requires intensive manual labour.
Awards and recognitions
The winery has received national and international recognition over the years; among the awards listed online are mentions and medals in competitions such as the Decanter World Wine Awards.
