The Morellino di Scansano of the Cerreto Piano winery is produced in the Tuscan Maremma from vines grown on deep soil with coarse sands and clays, rich in skeleton and well drained.
The harvest is done manually towards the end of September. The vinification involves de-stemming with partial breaking of the berries, fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature, and maceration on the skins during the malolactic fermentation carried out naturally in steel. The refinement is carried out for a period of 3 months in the bottle.
It is shown in the glass with an intense ruby red color, tending to garnet with aging. The bouquet is intense, fine, fresh and fruity with hints of red fruits, morello cherry, plum, and nuances of wood. A structured, full-bodied and full wine, with a dry, warm, slightly tannic taste, soft with aging.
We recommend pairing it with red meats, grilled Florentine steak, ribollita, Mugello-style tortelli or grilled pork ribs with BBQ sauce.
