Winery history Clos du Mont-Olivet

Family-run, the estate has long been associated with the Sabon family. The estate is recognized as a historic producer of Châteauneuf-du-Pape; the family has been active in the area since the early 20th century, and the modern estate is often cited as having been founded in 1932. In 1989 the Cuvée du Papet was launched, becoming the estate's flagship label.

Production philosophy

The approach prioritizes expression of the terroir: grape varieties are planted according to individual parcels, with a focus on finesse and a strong sense of place. Winemaking combines traditional techniques with targeted vineyard work to highlight the distinct parcels and styles.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards are spread across several appellations of the Southern Rhône, with parcels in approximately 15 lieux-dits. The soils in the main Châteauneuf parcels are described as sandy and rich in quartz. The estate owns holdings in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Lirac, Côtes du Rhône and in the IGP Gard.
