Winery history Colmello di Grotta

The estate began as a family-run winery born of Luciana Bennati’s passion; several sources report that operations started in the second half of the 20th century, and it is now managed by the Bortolotto Possati family. Over time the estate has restored its farmstead and developed a range of wines that interpret the two territorial vocations: Collio and Isonzo.

Production philosophy

Small-scale production with a focus on quality: the winery favors careful viticultural practices, selective harvests and considered aging to highlight the characteristics of the terroir. The motto "Welcome to the Small Barrel" underscores the focus on carefully crafted, select wines.

Terroir and vineyards

The estate is located in Farra d’Isonzo, in Friuli‑Venezia Giulia. The vineyards are distributed between the PDO areas of Collio and Isonzo del Friuli, on different soils and are south‑facing at low elevations.

Awards and recognitions

Featured in recent guides and competitions: included in the Untold 2025 guide; recognized by Guida Bio 2025; mentioned in The Wine Journal; awarded at WOW! The Italian Wine Competition 2023; two gold medals at the Concours International des Produits Biologiques et en conversion.
