Winery history M. Abbona

The company’s history begins with the Abbona family: father Celso promoted the Dolcetto di Dogliani and planted vineyards such as Bricco Doriolo. In the following years Marziano and Enrico expanded the estate by acquiring vineyards in the Langhe and began bottling under the family label. At the end of the 1990s the daughters joined the business; the Valle dell’Olmo winery was renovated and enlarged and, by the 2000s, inaugurated as the central facility, consolidating the production of cru wines and oenological experimentation.

Production philosophy

Combines respect for tradition with research: hand-tended vineyard yields, sustainable farming practices, close attention to grape quality and a measured use of winery technology to express the terroir.

Terroir and vineyards

The vineyards are located in the Langhe. Notable sites mentioned by the producer include Doriolo and San Luigi in Dogliani, the crus of Monforte and the estates in Ravera and Cerviano-Merli in Novello; the winery works with crus for Dogliani, Barbera, Nebbiolo and Barolo.
