Société du Rhum Barbancourt was founded by Dupré Barbancourt on March 18, 1862. The company, which has remained in the hands of the Gardère family, developed its production from sugarcane juice and over time has consolidated a range of aged rums and special editions. The production facility is located in the Plaine du Cul-de-Sac, near Port-au-Prince; throughout its history the company continued production despite adverse events and is today led by members of the same family.

Putting the raw material (sugarcane juice) at the center, applying traditional distillation and aging techniques to obtain rums with character and longevity; maintaining a strong connection to the Haitian territory and the brand's family tradition.
