Production method

Produced in collaboration with Avadis Distillery (Wincheringen). The recipe combines a blend of over 30 botanicals, many grown and selected locally, and infusions based on Riesling grapes sourced from the Saarburger Rausch vineyard.

Ageing

For some products (e.g. White Vermouth) maturation in casks tied to the Mosel tradition is used; the gin itself is obtained through infusions of botanicals and Riesling-based components.

Producer history Ferdinand's

The Ferdinand's project started in 2013 as a tribute to the Saar region. The product is the result of a collaboration between Denis Reinhardt and Erik Wimmers (Capulet & Montague), master distiller Andreas Vallendar (Avadis Distillery) and winemaker Dorothee Zilliken (Forstmeister Geltz-Zilliken). Its creation draws on the winemaking and distillation traditions of the Saar–Mosel area.

Production philosophy

To recreate the aromatic identity of the Saar using local raw materials and botanicals, with a strong connection to the area's Riesling and the direct cultivation of many of the herbs, fruits and spices used in the recipes.
