Distillation and production

Production method

Fermentation of low-alcohol wines (about 9% ABV), double distillation in copper charentais pot stills 'à repasse' heated by direct flame; distillations are carried out on the lees and only the 'heart' of the distillation is selected. Ageing takes place in oak casks (mainly Limousin) in the historic cellars, with blends overseen by the maître de chai and the family.

Distillation

Double distillation in copper charentais pot stills ('à repasse'), distillation on the lees; only the 'heart' of the distillation is retained.

Ageing

Ageing in oak casks (mainly Limousin); some reserves are kept and matured over generations in the historic cellars and in the Maison's 'Paradis', with cellars maintained at varying humidity to add complexity to the blends.

Producer history Tesseron

The house of Tesseron was started by Abel Tesseron in 1905 with a policy of assembling and preserving exceptional eaux-de-vie. In the decades that followed the business remained family-run: generations of the Tesseron family (including Guy, Alfred and the current generation with Noé) expanded the collection and enhanced very old reserves kept in the cellars and in the so-called 'Paradis'. The main property and facilities are located in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente, in the heart of the Cognac region.

Production philosophy

Working with historic reserves and valuing generational ageing: the Maison aims to preserve and elevate very old eaux-de-vie from the best crus (Grande and Petite Champagne), favouring blends that emphasise elegance, complexity and finesse rather than mass production.

Territory

Headquarters and chais in Châteauneuf-sur-Charente. Estate vineyards and sourcing focused on the Cognac crus: Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne (with use of Fins Bois for some blends).
