On the nose, the Very Old Aguardente reveals an intense aromatic palette, with notes of vanilla and ripe fruit mixed with nuances of toasted wood and sweet spices, a result of the long aging in barrels previously used for Port wine. The deep amber color dazzles upon sight, heralding the quality and intensity of the tasting experience.
On the palate, the aguardente shows a complex yet harmonious structure, with a perfect balance between alcoholic strength and smoothness. Flavors of hazelnut, chocolate, and a light aftertaste of coffee blend into a long and lingering finish, inviting a slow and satisfying tasting.
Perfect to serve at room temperature as a digestif after a meal, Niepoort's Very Old Aguardente offers a true sensory journey, capable of satisfying the most demanding connoisseurs and providing a moment of pure olfactory and gustatory pleasure. A precious addition to any high-end spirit collection.

Distillation
The Aguardente Velhíssima is a pomace distillate (aguardente) produced as a blend: aged spirits (for example a blend of lots aged 25 and 10 years) finished in oak casks.
Ageing
Aging in wood for Ports (traditional barrels/pipes in Vila Nova de Gaia for tawny and colheita) and in oak barrels for the spirits; some Colheita labels indicate long aging periods in traditional pipes.
