Altenberg Riesling Spätlese - Von Othegraven is a German wine of exceptional finesse and complexity, produced by the historic Von Othegraven winery, which boasts a long tradition in viticulture in the Moselle region. This Riesling Spätlese comes from Altenberg, a vineyard located in the heart of the wine area, known for its steep slopes and its unique microclimate, which allows the Riesling grapes to reach optimal ripeness, best expressing their varietal characteristics.

The wording "Spätlese" indicates that the grapes were harvested at a late ripeness, allowing for a wine with a perfect balance between natural sweetness and lively acidity, distinctive characteristics of the best Rieslings. The meticulous care in the selection of the grapes and in the vinification ensures that the Altenberg Riesling Spätlese is a wine of great expressiveness and longevity.

Visually, the wine presents itself with a bright golden yellow color, heralding the richness of aromas and flavors. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe fruit emerge, such as peach, apricot and citrus fruits, enriched by floral notes and a distinctive minerality, which reflects the terroir of origin. The olfactory complexity is completed by nuances of honey and sweet spices, the result of the high sugar concentration of the grapes.

In the mouth, Von Othegraven's Altenberg Riesling Spätlese offers an extraordinary harmony of flavors, with the sweetness of the fruit balanced by a refreshing acidity that prolongs the finish, making the sip incredibly pleasant and inviting. The texture is silky and the aftertaste is persistent, with a perfect balance that invites a second glass.

This Spätlese Riesling is excellent as an aperitif, but also pairs beautifully with spicy dishes, Asian cuisine, foie gras and fruit-based desserts. Its complexity and sweetness also make it a perfect meditation wine.
