This 1965 Dartigalongue Armagnac, presented in a 70 cl wooden case, is an example of great harmony matured over time. On the nose it opens with a complex bouquet of dried and cooked fruit — figs, plums and candied orange peel — followed by earthy notes of leather, tobacco and a faint vanilla underpinning. The alcoholic backbone is warm but integrated, providing substance without ever becoming aggressive; the olfactory profile speaks of long evolution and a balance between richness and finesse.

On the palate the sip is enveloping: soft, seductive, with a structure that supports aromas of fruit jam, sweet spices and a slight toasted note. The finish is long and persistent, with balsamic echoes that invite contemplation. It is best enjoyed neat in small glasses at room temperature, ideal as a collector’s bottle or an elegant gift; it pairs well with dark chocolate, very aged cheeses or simply as a contemplative digestif.

Distillation

Continuous distillation in a column still at low strength; for some ranges the use of traditional artisanal Armagnac pot stills is mentioned.

Ageing

Ageing in Gascon oak barrels (about 400 L); after 40–50 years the best vintages may be transferred to glass demijohns to preserve their character; numbered single cask and limited editions exist.
