The Dartigalongue Armagnac Reserve 6–12 years opens with a warm, reassuring aromatic profile: ripe and stewed fruit, light notes of prune and plum, hints of vanilla and a touch of sweet spice from the wood. The texture is clean and well balanced, with depth but without overburdening; a pleasant softness emerges that suggests moderate aging, aimed at enhancing roundness and finesse rather than seeking overpowering aromatic expression.

On the palate the sip is enveloping, medium-bodied with warm persistence, soft tannins that support the structure and echoes of dried fruit and candied citrus peel in the finish. It lends itself to a slow tasting, served neat in a wide glass at room temperature or slightly cool; a few drops of water or an ice cube soften the heat without stripping its depth. Excellent as an after-dinner digestif, it also pairs well with dark chocolate, aged cheeses, or moments of convivial reflection.

Distillation

Continuous distillation in a column still at low strength; for some ranges the use of traditional artisanal Armagnac pot stills is mentioned.

Ageing

Ageing in Gascon oak barrels (about 400 L); after 40–50 years the best vintages may be transferred to glass demijohns to preserve their character; numbered single cask and limited editions exist.
