The Barbera d'Alba DOC from Seghesio winery is an authentic and traditional expression of the Piedmontese territory, known for its wines of great character. Made exclusively with Barbera grapes, this wine stands out for its vivacity and its rich, complex profile.

Visually, it presents a deep ruby-red color, almost impenetrable, which already anticipates the structure of this wine. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe fruit such as cherries and plums emerge, enriched by subtle spicy notes and a light touch of vanilla, derived from wood aging.

On the palate, Seghesio's Barbera d'Alba DOC is vigorous and robust, with good acidity that helps maintain freshness and vivacity. The entry in the mouth is powerful, developing into a full and enveloping body. The tannins are well integrated and soft, making this wine pleasantly drinkable despite its structure.

The finish is long and persistent, with an aftertaste that recalls the fruity and spicy notes perceived on the nose. This wine is ideal when paired with dishes from traditional Piedmontese cuisine, such as agnolotti del plin, braised meats, and game, but it also pairs beautifully with medium-aged cheeses.

Seghesio's Barbera d'Alba DOC is a wine that can be enjoyed immediately, but it also has good aging potential, evolving beautifully for several years in the cellar. A true expression of the territory, it tells through the glass the passion and tradition of one of the most esteemed wine families in Piedmont.

Family-owned winery in the Langhe, based in Monforte d'Alba (the Castelletto hamlet), noted for its expressions of Nebbiolo (Barolo Castelletto, La Villa), as well as Barbera and Dolcetto.
Region: Piemonte
Country: Italia
Founded: 1988
Grapes: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Incrocio Manzoni
Based in Monforte d'Alba, in the Castelletto hamlet. Production focused on Nebbiolo/Barolo, Barbera and Dolcetto. Family-run estate: Riccardo and his grandchildren are involved in the operations. Approximately 10 hectares of vineyards with an indicative production of around 60,000 bottles per year. Wines reviewed by international publications and listed in specialist guides and retailers.
Winery history
The Seghesio-branded bottle first appeared in the late 1980s: brothers Aldo and Riccardo began bottling under the Fratelli Seghesio label, and the winery is now run by Riccardo together with his nieces and nephews Michela, Sandro and Marco. The business retains a family character and remains focused on the local appellations of the Langhe.
Production philosophy
The estate aims to produce wines that reflect the terroir and the characteristics of the grapes, balancing tradition with modern cellar practices to showcase the local character.
Terroir and vineyards
Production is concentrated in the Castelletto cru in Monforte d'Alba. The soils include calcareous formations and marls; some vineyards are located at around 350 m elevation with favourable exposures that contribute to the aromatic balance of the Nebbiolo destined for Barolo.
Awards and recognitions
Some of the estate's wines have been reviewed and rated by international magazines and guides: for example, Decanter awarded 91 points to the Vigneto La Villa bottling in a tasting. Other scores and mentions appear on retailers and specialized guides.
